Aurora Speeding Tickets, Extended article

Much of aurora science revolves around visualizing a huge amount of data that is collected from cameras, spectrometers, magnetometers, and particle detectors. Organizing and synchronizing many sources is like using all your 5 senses at once. Watching a cooking show isn't the same as going to a restaurant! The 1957 effort to coordinate aurora observations globally is an example of trying to get more data from more places synchronized, leading to new insights.
